The scheduled aerotow/fly in at Exbourne hosted by the Okehampton Model Flying club has been postponed due to the weather forecast for the rest of the week. The event has been rescheduled for the 31st Aug and 1st Sept with camping the 3 days prior, please contact the club for more details if required, link on our website.

There has been a 3.5 nautical miles no-fly order issued during the period of the Teignmouth Air Show on Saturday 6th July between between 13:00 and 18:00 and it includes Little Haldon

The July monthly club aerotow is on the 30th of June, next Sunday, not actually in July. Every one is invited and there is time set aside for general club flying.
August Main Annual Aerotow Event is as per the attached flyer. Club members are also welcome to join in or watch and if you can please volunteer to help for just an hour or so or all day.
Volunteers please contact Rob or myself and we will contact you nearer the time to discuss how you would like to help.

September monthly club aerotow is on 1st September.
October monthly club aerotow is on 6th October.
The Monthly Aerotow events start at 10am and finish at 4pm.
All the monthly aerotow dates are Sundays and there is an Alternative Date for each of the monthly events if the weather forecast is poor, (usually the following Sunday).
If the weather forecast is doubtful please phone Rob Oats on (01837 52322), or myself (01392 421106 or 07966 292903), on the day before the aerotow just to check the final decision.

The EU regulations for Unmanned Aircraft were published in the Official Journal of the European Union on the 11thJune and the Implementing Regulation will become applicable on 1st July, 2020.

CAP1789 includes a paragraph specifically relating to model aircraft which states:
Additional provisions are made within the regulation to cater for operations, including registration and remote pilot competence, under the framework of model aircraft clubs or associations under a separate authorisation that can be negotiated with, and issued by, the CAA.
This is essentially what we’ve been arguing for!
Implementing significant changes to the ANO under UK law (mandating registration and competence requirements) with effect from 30th November 2019 which may then have to be revised/amended with effect from the 1st July 2020 seems to be a wholly unnecessary complication and surely it would be far better to get it right once, but few things in life are ever simple.
